Stephenie Meyer-An Obligation to Uphold?

I would like to pose this question to my readers, and Twilight fans, and fans of any series in general. This is in regards to writers that have stories that have exploded to to pop culture icons; your "designers" of Harry Potter and Sookie Stackhouse, the Forks gang, hell even the Babysitter's Club (and there she goes in the "way back" machine.. They didn't have fangs or witches though, did they?) If they are sincere when they say things like "I couldn't have done it without the fans, My readers are the reason I do this, blah blah blah", does the writer have an obligation to follow up when the demand is there?

I point to Midnight Sun, the unfinished copy of Twilight from Edward Cullen's perspective that was leaked some time ago. On stepheniemeyer.com, the writer finally answers the question of finishing this book. And the answer? She's sick of writing about vampires. The more that people push her to write it, the less she wants to. Ok, I understand that it was leaked. And had it not been leaked, we may have never been any the wiser. However, I am one of those fans you thank for your fortune of this empire you've built. And, I feel in some respect, that you have an obligation to finish what you've started. I understand the free will, the frustration of being pushed to do things, and being "sick" of a certain subject. However, take some responsibility for the cult phenomen you have created. Not only is it amazing and you get to be riding the gravy train of all the success, but people want more! That to me should be your greatest inspiration.

I want to hear from you guys now. What do you think? Not only about her, but writer's in general. If they start this freight train a'rollin, do you think they have an obligation to see it through to the end of the line? Or is it completely at their discretion? Weigh in.

Layfette's Love Interest

Love is in the Air

Lafayette and new boy sitting in a tree.. K-I-S-S-I-N-G. New to the show, but Kevin Alejandro has been in several of my personal favs such as Weeds and NCIS, now he's doing double duty between Southland, which was just picked up by TNT, as well as Lafayette's love interest in the upcoming season of True Blood. Sexy? Yes. But can he hold a candle to Lafayette's style?

Spoiler: It's interesting to see what route this character will take since the books leave Lafayette in the dust after the first one. To me, that's my favorite part about the show; it's like watching something vaguely familiar yet not knowing exactly how things are going to go down. My only hope is new boy can hang with Lafayette, because he's a force unto himself, and I don't know if anyone can roll with him.... Rumor is bf is slanging vamp blood, too. What's Eric gonna say about that?

True Blood's Lorena-Classic Love, Classic Style

Oh, you know the classic love story. Girl likes boy. Boy has another girl. Girl gets upset. Turns boy into vampire. They live for years and years in a routine of partying, bloodsucking, and living the high life before boy decides there has to be something more to life, even this life without a heartbeat, and leaves girl.

Then girl returns, years later, to claim what's rightfully hers, but the boy has fallen for another girl. A human girl. And the worst part of it? She buys her evening wear the same place she buys her work clothes. That's right, Vampire girl is your Elizabeth Taylor, Princess Di, Jackie O, staying up with the times yet still remaining a classic beauty. And her she finds the man she loves shacking up with a the local reigning Wal-Mart Beauty Queen. I know, I know, I'm taking the approach most don't.

Yes, she turned him into a vampire in the first place. Yes, she tried to kill Sookie by holding Bill against his will, then trying to kill her at the after-party. I know, I know. But seriously, you fall for a guy that hard that you're willing to turn him vamp, stay with him for years only to have him leave you because he feels like there is "more to life" and find him shacked up with the white trash telepath, tell me you wouldn't be a little pissed?
